TV Rescans Happening Throughout the Country This Week

TV Antenna Viewers in Multiple Communities Affected

As many as 81 TV stations in 36 communities across the country are scheduled to change frequencies by this Friday, March 13, the end of Phase 8 of the spectrum repack – with some having already transitioned in February and early March. Phase 8 is part of the 10-phase spectrum repack, which is scheduled to continue at least through this summer. Approximately 800 stations have already changed frequencies since September 2018 when the process began.

As a result of the multi-city station transitions, if you use an antenna to access free, over-the-air television you will need to rescan your TV or converter box if stations in your community change frequencies. Rescanning your TV is free and relatively fast using your TV remote, but to be effective, the rescan must occur after thestation completes its frequency change. Even if you’re not affected – those who have cable or satellite TV do not need to rescan – someone you know or love may be and may need help to continue to receive their local TV channels and emergency alerts. Check out the list of communities below that are impacted by station frequency changes occurring by this Friday and make a #PlanToRescan. Make sure to assist family members and neighbors who might need a helping hand.

You can enter a zip code here to find out if and when local stations are set to transition. You can also sign up for free text and email alerts so that you know the exact day a TV rescan is required.
